How it all came to be…

What’s In A Name

When naming this practice, I tried to find a name that represented animals, nature, outdoors and all of the things that make me happy. Suddenly, “Pickaroon” came to mind. Growing up in Colorado, my dad would take us to the Pickaroon campground in Wyoming, teaching us to raft, catch our dinner, build fires and sing campfire songs. As an adult, I learned that the campgrounds namesake, the Pickaroon logging tool has been nicknamed in the industry as “Man’s Best Friend”. Just like the service the Pickaroon provides to the woodmen, our pledge at Pickaroon Animal Hospital is to give the best care for your best friend.

When I hear “Pickaroon” I think of my dad, our wonderful times together as a family, and my happy place.  I hope to bring the joy I have felt when visiting the campground to my hospital and make it another “happy place” for you and your pet.
